4.2 ENVIRONMENTAL
4.2.1 GENERAL
The equipment shall operate in accordance with this specification and suffer no degradation when subject to the environmental tests specified below.
The Purchaser shall have the right to attend any foreseen Qualification Tests. In this case, the Supplier shall inform the Purchaser of the date and the local of the test, 30 (thirty) days before the test commencement.
4.2.2 OPERATIONAL ENVELOPE
a) GROUND CONDITION
The current sensors shall operate at ambient temperatures ranging from -54°C to +70°C. The operational characteristics (4.1.1) of the sensors shall be kept over this envelope.
b) FLIGHT CONDITION
The equipment shall operate during and after aircraft exposure, as applicable, to ambient temperatures within the altitude/temperature envelope shown in the figure 1.
4.2.3 TEMPERATURE AND ALTITUDE
The sensors shall meet the temperature and Altitude test requirements defined in RTCA DO 160 E, section 4, category A4.
Immediately before, during and after the above test the qualification unit shall be submitted to functional and operational tests.
4.2.4 TEMPERATURE VARIATION
The sensors shall meet the temperature variation test requirements defined in RTCA DO 160 E, section 5, category C.
Immediately before, during and after the above test the qualification unit shall be submitted to functional and operational tests.
4.2.5 HUMIDITY
The sensors shall be tested according to the humidity test requirements defined in RTCA DO 160 E, section 6, category A.
Immediately before and after the above test the qualification unit shall be submitted to functional and operational tests.
4.2.6 OPERATIONAL SHOCKS AND CRASH SAFETY
The actuator shall be tested according to the shock test requirements defined in RTCA DO 160 E, section 7, category B.
Immediately before and after the above test the qualification unit shall be submitted to functional and operational tests.
4.2.7 VIBRATION
The sensors shall be tested according to the vibration test requirements defined in RTCA DO 160 E, section 8, category S, Curve C (Table 8-1, figure 8-1).
Immediately before and after the above test the qualification unit shall be submitted to functional and operational tests.
4.2.8 WATER PROOFNESS
The sensors shall be tested to the waterproof test requirements defined in RTCA DO 160 E, section 10, category Y.
Immediately before and after the above test the qualification unit shall be submitted to functional and operational tests.
4.2.9 FLUIDS SUSCEPTIBILITY
The sensors shall be tested to the fluids susceptibility test requirements defined in RTCA DO 160 E, section 11, category F.
Immediately before and after the above test the qualification unit shall be submitted to functional and operational tests.
4.2.10 SAND AND DUST
The sensors shall be tested to sand and dust test requirements defined in RTCA DO 160 E, section 12, category D.
Immediately before and after the above test the qualification unit shall be submitted to functional and operational tests.
4.2.11FUNGUS RESISTANCE
The sensors shall be tested according to the fungus test requirements defined in RTCA DO 160 E, section 13, category F.
Immediately before and after the above test the qualification unit shall be submitted to functional and operational tests

4.2.12SALT SPRAY
The sensors shall be tested according to the salt spray test requirements defined in RTCA DO 160 E, section 14, category S.
Immediately before and after the above test the qualification unit shall be submitted to functional and operational tests.
4.3 ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY
4.3. MAGNETIC EFFECT
The sensors shall be tested according to the magnetic effect test requirements defined in RTCA DO 160 E, section 15, category Z.
Immediately before and after the above test the qualification unit shall be submitted to functional and operational tests.
4.3.2 POWER INPUT
If the solenoid is powered, it shall be tested according to the power input test requirements defined in RTCA DO 160 E, section 16, category Z.
Immediately before and after the above test the qualification unit shall be submitted to functional and operational tests.
4.3.3 VOLTAGE SPIKE
If the solenoid is powered, it shall be tested according to the voltage spike requirements defined in RTCA DO 160 E, section 17, category A.
Immediately before and after the above test the qualification unit shall be submitted to functional and operational tests.
4.3.4 AUDIO FREQUENCY CONDUCTED SUSCEPTIBILITY – POWER INPUT
The sensors shall be tested according to the audio frequency conducted susceptibility test requirements defined in RTCA DO 160 E, section 18, category Z.
Immediately before and after the above test the qualification unit shall be submitted to functional and operational tests.
4.3.5 INDUCED SIGNAL SUSCEPTIBILITY
The sensors shall be tested according to the induced signal susceptibility test requirements defined in RTCA DO 160 E, section 19, category ZC.
Immediately before and after the above test the qualification unit shall be submitted to functional and operational tests.
4.3.6 RADIO FREQUENCY SUSCEPTIBILITY (RADIATED AND CONDUCTED)
The sensors shall be tested according to the radio frequency susceptibility (radiated and conducted) requirements defined in RTCA DO 160 E, section 20, category WW.
Immediately before and after the above test the qualification unit shall be submitted to functional and operational tests.
4.3.7 LIGHTNING INDUCED TRANSIENT SUSCEPTIBILITY
The sensors shall be tested according to the lightning induced transient susceptibility requirements defined in RTCA DO 160 E, section 22, category B3XXX.
Immediately before and after the above test the qualification unit shall be submitted to functional and operational tests.
